Major Updates

  • There is a known issue with games disconnecting and then becoming unplayable getting stuck with a bot that will not make a move. A solution is being worked on to fix the connectivity issue for the next update.
  • Added mitigation technique to games when disconnects happen that will try to fix the game once users reconnect. In extreme cases, the game will be deleted to make sure the user isn't stuck forever on a broken exercise/game.

  • Analyzing a Spades hand will autoplay cards until a move is encountered which you request it stop at. For example, you can set the analysis to pause after every move, or just after a "brilliant", "mistake", or "weak" move. You can change which moves all replays will stop at on your profile or for just one particular replay from the options sidebar from any Spades Replay Analysis.
  • AI improvements that will generate more advanced Spades puzzles.
  • When clicking "View Solution" from the Spades Puzzles feedback will now take you straight to the trick in question.

Minor Updates

  • AI improvements for tables that don't have nil bids, namely not maximizing tricks when possible in must set situations as North and East do in this replay.
  • AI improvements that will stop generating puzzles or giving feedback as "brilliant" when a move is very likely but not guaranteed to secure a bid/set the opponents/avoid a bag.
  • AI improvements that play more precisely near the end of a hand, namely how South takes an unnecessary bag here and calls it "brilliant" (creating a puzzle in the process) during analysis in this replay.
  • Fixed some players holding duplicate cards in the Spades trump promotion lesson.
  • Removed some Spades Puzzles that were inaccurate or even mistakes.

  • The two-click gameplay setting from your profile should now work on Spades practice games.
  • The success/failed screen from the Spades nil exercises now appear after all cards have been played in the last/setting trick. You'll also now see cards the bots play before it becomes your turn when you go to the next exercise.
  • A nil exercise will now be removed from the list of exercises if too many users are succeeding/failing it.

  • You can now play (unrated) live games with other players on the site! The chat and automatch features will come at a later date.
  • There is now an option to turn on or off "two clicK" gameplay on your profile. This means you'll be asked to confirm your choice of card or bid with a second press when it is set to on.

  • The AI used on the site has had its thinking time cut in half. This will speed up the hand analysis feature and shorter wait times between computers making their moves in games.

  • You can now solve Spades puzzles. If you find a puzzle that doesn't make any sense, contact us.
    To find your own way there in the future, go to Spades > Train > Puzzles > Start.
  • These puzzles are generated by the computer players that you practice against when they find an objective best move late in a hand. By playing against the computer, you're helping by generating more puzzles!

  • You can now view your Spades puzzle rating from your profile and the link to the Spades puzzles on your profile now works.
  • The nav menu toggle bar should appear above the loading screens if you want to change pages before a game finishes loading.
  • Replays should stop redirecting you to the error page now.
  • The bots should handle nil hands a little better and they now evaluate winning/losing the game above all else.

  • You can now play practice games of spades against the computer. To find your own way there, go to Spades > Play > Vs Bots > Play.
  • Replay maker has temporarily been removed. Instead, any games you play on the site are stored on your profile.
  • Scores and previous trick are now opened by clicking the book icon in the top right of the game. This should give mobile users more space to see their cards.

  • The Spades Counting Exercises now all pull from a (currently small) collection of challenges. The counting challenge pulls a random challenge and the counting suits will pull suit counting only, etc.

  • The Spades Counting Challenge has been replaced with a database (albeit small at the moment) of recorded hands.
    • Getting the question correct will raise your counting rating and lower the challenge's rating. Getting the question incorrect will lower your counting rating and raise the challenge's rating.
    • The challenges are currently randomly assigned, but in a future update, a challenge relatively close to your rating (within 100 points) will try to be assigned to give a challenging experience to all users regardless of skill level.
  • Most of the Spades Counting Exercises now require an account to use.
    • The Suit Remaining exercise is still avilable to non registered users.
  • Your profile page now lists your counting ratings along with your game ratings (and more neatly).

  • The last trick when clicked should now appear in front of the quiz buttons in the spades exercises.
